Raise your bents. Using a heavy telescoping forklift raise your bents and place them on the foundation. Nail 2x6 braces to your posts and anchor them to the ground or foundation. Then bolt them in place using brackets and foundation bolts.
Also consider your site before you choose a house design. Choosing a house plan to maximize views or natural lighting for energy efficiency according to your land is key. Remember many Davis Frame timber frame floor plans are flexible.
The pieces of wood are stacked just as you would stack a pile of firewood, except that with each course you lay down two parallel lines of mortar along the outside edges of the stack. The mortar is roughly 4"wide. If you're using 24" long pieces of wood you end up with a space between the mortar, inside the wall space, of about 16". This should be filled with some sort of insulation. You can use fibreglass, rockwool, sawdust or just about anything else that will restrict air flow and heat loss. If you're going off grid and trying to be low impact get creative.
Make the footing wider than the wall of greenhouse. Drains can be installed at this point. Trenches for electrical cables and water pipes can be dug at the same time.
Rammed earth walls are erected by courses. The height of each course is about one foot and The thicknesses is ten inches. The soil is stabilized before putting it in the form work. This is by mixing ten parts of soil with one part of lime or cement. Water is then added to make a good working consistency. On the window or door opening a frame is done to carry the weight of earth over the opening. A timber frame home of ten by two inches is done over all the openings in the earth wall.
The width of your window jab may be a determining factor. If you have a solid brick or brick veneer or concrete block home then your window jambs will be plenty wide enough to house your blinds and not have them banging against the windows.
If you have enough space and money you may want to add a wine cellar. Even if your not a connoisseur, a wine cellar is a great conversation piece when hosting a get together. If your wine room was big enough you could even hold a small intimate wine tasting event for your friends. Just remember even if your turning an extra closet into a wine room, the key is temperature control. Invest in a air conditioner that is made for wine cellars, a normal home air conditioning unit cannot maintain the constant 55 degree temperature needed for storing your wine, without icing over.
Your first requirement is a level site. You will need to spend some time clearing it and leveling it for your greenhouse. Effort put in here will pay off later when you come to erect the greenhouse. If your site was uneven nothing will fit together properly.
As well as the lathe, a well-equipped turner's workshop will have a bandsaw, chainsaw, cut-off saw, table saw, grinder, power drill, sharpening jigs, air compressor, belt sander, drill press and possibly a vacuum line for chucking. All must be in a convenient position for use.
Because you'll be planting your seeds or seedlings much closer together, you reduce the amount of water required. The combination of planting closer and less water will give you the extra benefit of far less weeds to worry about, because you're not providing them with ideal growing conditions.... space and light.
